National Science Day is celebrated to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman and to promote scientific temper among students and society. The 2026 theme, “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat”, highlights the pivotal role of women scientists, researchers, innovators, and technologists in driving India’s progress toward a developed nation.
